Sharpening and Care

Our preparatory steel is not only incredibly strong and durable but also easy to re-sharpen.

Overmatch Broadheads are among the sharpest blades on the market. However, that edge needs to be maintained. Many people are intimidated by sharpening, but Overmatch has made sharpening easy!

Simply lay your Overmatch Broadhead on the sharpened bevel edge on your sharpening surface and re-hone your edge.

We recommend using a progressive form of sharpening (coarse to fine grit); however, use what you have available. We have tested: sharpening stones, diamond plates, ceramic, and sandpaper. Some results are prettier than others, but all will produce an edge and burr.

In order to achieve a high polished look use simple buffing compound on the inside of cereal box cardboard to produce a mirrored finish.

Care, protect your investment:

The black nitride coating applied to Overmatch Broadheads provides great protection against rust; however our broadheads are not made of stainless steel and can rust if not properly cared for.

We simply suggest occasionally wiping your broadheads down with an oil of your choice in order to prevent rust after use and before long term storage. That's it, care is as simple as that!
