Please see the below tips that will help ensure that your Overmatch Broadheads provide you with the best accuracy and continued success year after year performance
Accuracy:
A shooters form, bow tune, and arrow build are three of the most critical aspects to the accuracy of a fixed blade broadhead.
Form
We recommend that all shooters, especially those new to archery, check their form. To do this either go to your trusted local pro shop, archery club, watch videos on the internet, or submit videos/pics to online forums for advice. Form can impact accuracy in a big way, so isolating any form issues is one thing everyone can do to improve their shooting.
Bow tune
Just like checking the zero on a rifle, ensuring that your bow is in tune is an important part of accuracy. Fixed-blade broadheads will amplify and highlight issues with a bow's tune; the broadhead is an additional plane at the front of the arrow. If your Overmatch broadheads and field points are impacting in vastly different places, your bow is likely out of tune. We recommend that everyone ensure their bow is in tune prior to every season to make sure your bow is performing at its best.
Arrow Build
This is a hotly debated topic in the archery industry! There are many schools of thought on how to set up your arrows for hunting; we would simply say that arrow spine and vane choice are very important when shooting an Overmatch Broadhead.
Regarding spine, make sure that the arrow you are shooting has the proper spine for your bow and front weight configuration. We have no affiliations with arrow producers, but Easton's arrow selection page is very helpful and allows the user to add and subtract values based on your configuration in order to ensure your arrow is properly spined, regardless of what company's arrow you are shooting.
For vanes, we recommend shooting a vane that has a high restorative lift quality. Vanes in this category do a great job steering large fixed-blade broadheads and will make your shots more accurate by quickly correcting flight. You can deep dive by visiting the recently released Yates Arrow Ballistics study, whose results will help you decide how to build your arrows for this season.
